Info
The Advanced Photon Source (APS) is a high-energy synchrotron X-ray facility at Argonne National Laboratory (Lemont, IL). DOE Office of Science user facility. Recently completed a major upgrade (APS-U) providing 100-1000x brighter X-ray beams. Houses multiple structural biology beamlines and the BioCAT sector (home of BioXTAS RAW).
APS-U upgrade
The APS upgrade completed in 2024, providing dramatically improved beam brightness. This is relevant to DiffUSE because higher-brightness beams enable better diffuse scattering measurements.
Key Relationships
- Pete Jemian (APS) is a NIAC member
- Raymond Osborn (Argonne) is a NIAC non-facility member
- BioCAT sector 18 is home of Jesse Hopkins (BioXTAS RAW)
- GM/CA beamlines for macromolecular crystallography
- SER-CAT, NE-CAT, LS-CAT and other collaborative access teams
- Data processed with DIALS, XDS, CCP4 tools
Funding
- DOE Office of Science (primary)
- NIH (structural biology beamlines)
