Info
The Advanced Light Source (ALS) is a synchrotron facility at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, CA). DOE Office of Science user facility. Currently undergoing ALS-U upgrade for improved brightness. Hosts multiple structural biology beamlines. Home institution of Paul Adams (PHENIX) and Aaron Brewster (DIALS, NIAC Chair).
LBNL as a landscape nexus
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory houses ALS (beamlines), PHENIX (Paul Adams), DIALS (Aaron Brewster), and the RCSB PDB UCSD collaboration. Paul Adams is also Assoc. Lab Director for Biosciences at LBNL. This concentration of data processing, refinement, and data format expertise makes LBNL a key node.
Key Relationships
- Paul Adams (PHENIX PI) is LBNL Assoc. Lab Director for Biosciences
- Aaron Brewster leads DIALS at LBNL AND chairs NIAC
