Birkbeck, University of London
Info
Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London, in the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (ISMB). Her laboratory uses cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and subtomogram averaging to study how coat-protein complexes remodel membranes to form transport carriers. Best known for determining the native assembly of the COPII coat, which shuttles thousands of cargo proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi. Obtained a 4.9 Angstrom structure of the assembled COPII coat - one of the highest-resolution membrane-bound subtomogram averages published.
wwPDB role
Advisory Committee member, EMDB representative. Brings cryo-tomography expertise to wwPDB governance and discussions of how EMDB handles tomography data.
